Ruth Moser

May 31, 1933 — April 5, 2014

The funeral for Ruth Moser, of Fargo, North Dakota formerly of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Federated Church in Morris, with Reverend Jennifer Amy-Dressler officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.

Ruth Norma Christensen was born on May 31, 1933 in Skagen, Denmark to Dan and Magdalene (Nielsen) Christensen. She and her family came to America when Ruth was 13 years of age. They farmed near Barrett, MN for a short time before moving to the family farm near Morris. On August 25, 1953, she married Donald Moser, son of Dan and Jessie Moser. They made their home in Morris where they raised their four children. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage before Don's passing in 2003.

Ruth operated a home daycare for many years in Morris and talked about her daycare kids up until the day she passed. She was very much a Dane and proud of her heritage. She would never think of complaining about any of her aches and pains. She loved her children deeply and she and Don both instilled in them a strong sense of family and faith.

Ruth's church home was the Federated Church in Morris where she had many friends. Ruth's tender spirit and kind heart made her all the more adored and loved. She had a very calming presence about her that made being with her all the more special. She was quite stoic with a quick-witted and dry sense of humor. She liked a good joke and it was fun seeing her laugh until tears ran down her face.

She moved to Fargo, ND to be near her daughter in 2009. Ruth had a way of knowing when something was amiss just by listening. She was a good sounding board and on the rare occasion when she offered her advice, it was very straightforward, and although not always accepted easily, was usually right on the mark.

Ruth was able to return once more to her homeland of Denmark, accompanied by her daughter, Pam, and son, Jeff, in 2010. They were fortunate enough to stay in the very house where she grew up. She recalled many memories and shared many fascinating stories of her days as a young girl during the German occupation of Denmark during World War II.

Ruth passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home in Fargo under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 80 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Greg) Moll, Moorhead, MN; her son, Jeff, Mankato, MN; her daughter-in-law, Sandy (Leuthardt) Moser, Rochester, MN; two sisters, Esther (Gordon) Thompson, Cyrus, MN and Birte Christensen, Sun City, AZ; two brothers, Knute (Rosy) Christensen, Morris, MN and Kaj (Becky) Christensen, Mandan, ND; eleven grandchildren, Peter (Michelle) Moser of Red Wing, MN, Tiffany (Jim) Bowers, Rochester, MN, Amber (Paul) DeBoer and Garrett Moser, Sioux Falls, SD, Heidi Greiner and Lindsay Cook, both Fargo, ND, Jon Moll and Dillon Moll, both Moorhead, MN, Stevie Schwermann, Minneapolis, Jaeger Moser and Rylan Moser, both Mankato, MN; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Gallo, Red Wing, MN; Caitlin Patrick, Carter Bowers, Charleigh Bowers, all Rochester, MN; Zach Greiner and Kylie Rietsema, both Fargo, ND; one brother-in-law, Howard Moser, Morris, MN; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Luker, San Antonio, TX and Helen Leman, Mission TX; and several nieces and nephews.
