Ruth Frances Peterson, daughter of Victor and Bertha (Johnson) Peterson, was born February 12, 1909 in Alberta, Minnesota, where she was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She grew up in Alberta, where she received her schooling, graduating from Alberta High School in 1927. She then furthered her education by attending business classes, prior to taking a job with the Stevens County Welfare Office in Morris. On February 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Bernard Otto Olson. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Colorado, where they resided for many years. Bernard died on June 2, 1973 and Frances moved back to Morris in 1974, where she made her home at the West Central Christian Homes.
Ruth was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris, where she had been active in the Zipporah Bible Study Group, as well as the church quilting and embroidery groups over the years. She also enjoyed bowling, walking, doing crossword puzzles and playing card games with her friends and was an excellent baker and cook.
Ruth Frances Olson died on Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.
Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers for the service are: Howard Olson, Tom Olson, Jerry Johnson, Duane Carter, Burnett Pearson and Dennis Johnson. Honorary pallbearer is Michael Olson. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Mary Huebner serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to any charitable organization.
