Ruth Wente, daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Milz) Wente, was born June 10, 1919 in Tara Township in Swift County, Minnesota. She was baptized by Rev. Pasche and confirmed on May 22, 1932 by Reverend Ristow at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township in Stevens County. She attended County School District #16 in Stevens County. On October 21, 1936, she was united in marriage to Edgar Sachs at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed for several years in Fairfield Township in Swift County, prior to moving to Horton Township in Stevens County, where they continued to farm and raise their four children: Darlene, Duane, Roger and Craig. In 1950, they moved to a farm in Hoff Township, where they continued to farm. When Ruth and Edgar retired from farming, they stayed on the farm for a period of time and later moved to the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.
Ruth died on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 87 years.
She is survived by three children: Darlene (Jack) Christman of Glenwood, Roger (Eileen) Sachs of Rosemount and Craig Sachs of Hancock and (special friend: Connie Burns); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son: Duane Sachs; one grandson: Duane Sachs, Jr; one granddaughter: Jean Gloege; one great-granddaughter: Jillian Gloege; two brothers: Harold and Lester Wente and two nephews: Dalton and Dallas.
Honorary pallbearers are all of Ruth's family and friends. Marsha Gronewold will serve as pianist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
