The memorial service for Ruth Schultz, of Starbuck, Minnesota will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Fron Lutheran Cemetery, Starbuck.
Ruth Mae Evert, daughter of Edward and Esther (Juliar) Evert was born on November 21, 1927 in St. Clair, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Ruth furthered her education, attending Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, receiving her bachelor's degree in education. She then moved to Lester Prairie and began her teaching career as a high school science teacher. In 1948, Ruth met Milo Schultz of Lester Prairie. Ruth and Milo were united in marriage on July 14, 1951. In 1960, they moved to Starbuck, Minnesota. Ruth began teaching high school science at Kensington High School in Kensington, Minnesota in 1966, and later received her master's degree from the University of North Dakota. After their retirement, the couple continued to live in Starbuck. Milo died on August 29, 2013. Ruth entered the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck in January of 2014.
She was a member of the Fron Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Fron Sewing Circle. Ruth spent hundreds of hours quilting and sewing. The task never seemed like work, as Ruth thought of it as a calling for those in need. She also enjoyed reading, word puzzles, walking and gardening.
Ruth died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. She was 87 years old.
She is survived by three children, Norma Edwards, Rohnert Park, CA, Linda (Steve) Yaddof, Platteville, WI and Wesley (Kara) Schultz, Marco Island, FL; four grandchildren, Conrad (Nicole) Yaddof, Maple Grove, MN, Kinsey Yaddof, Madison, WI, Jason (Rose) Schultz, Richmond Heights, MO and Jennifer (Cory) Hodgson, Alexandria, MN and three great-grandchildren, Peyton Olivia and Noah Daniel Hodgson, Alexandria, MN and Wesley Edward Schultz II, Richmond Heights, MO. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Elvira Blowers.
