The funeral for Sharon Rae Peterson, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with her son, Pastor Lee Peterson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, rural Chokio.
Sharon Rae Peterson, daughter of Floyd and Luella (Whitmer) Peterson was born on July 3, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Chokio, Minnesota, graduating from Chokio High School in 1972. She then attended Huron University in Huron, South Dakota receiving her criminal justice degree. Sharon moved to Appleton, Minnesota and worked for the federal prison before returning to Huron and working as a correctional officer at the Beadle County Jail. Due to health issues, Sharon retired in 2011. She entered the West Wind Village in Morris in 2012.
Sharon enjoyed reading; writing poetry and short stories; however, her favorite pastime was loving her grandchildren.
Sharon died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota. She was 60 years old.
She is survived by one son, Lee (Janelle) Peterson, missionaries to South Africa; mother, Luella Peterson, Morris; two brothers, Bob (Sarah) Peterson, Alexandria, MN and Jay Peterson, Morris, MN; two sisters, Robin Banister, Glenwood, MN and Karla (Gary) Goulette, Morris, MN and eight grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Steve Peterson.
