Stanley John Kent

Funeral services for Stanley Kent, of Breckenridge, formerly of Morris and Perham, Minnesota, will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Todd Schneider will be celebrating the Mass. A visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m., with parish prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Saint Lawrence Cemetery in Perham.

Stan Kent was born on August 19, 1931 to John and Nell Kent of rural Clontarf, MN. Stan was one of three children: Stan and brothers Robert (Duke) and Larry. The family lived on a small farm outside of Clontarf.

Stan completed his primary education at Benson, MN, graduating in 1949. He then went on to Mankato State, where he played football and completed a BS degree in education.

On June 11, 1955, he married the love of his life, Isabel Hughes in Benson, MN. They became the proud parents of six children: Steve, Coleen, Tim, Kevin, Shannon and Shawn.

Stan spent two years in the army stationed in Pennsylvania before returning to Morris, MN to begin a teaching and coaching career that spanned 30 years, from 1956-1986. He and Isabel (Izzy) then spent the next 26 years in retirement together on Rush Lake near Perham, MN, where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

Stan enjoyed hunting and fishing with family, teaching buddies and friends on Rush Lake. He and Izzy spent countless hours on bleachers watching their grandchildren play various sports. The coach never left him!

Stan was an active member of the Morris Lions Club while in Morris and the Rush Lake Association while in Perham.

Stan passed away on June 20, 2023 at CHI St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN surrounded by loving family. He was 91 years old.

Surviving Stan are his children, son Steve (Nancy) Kent, daughter Coleen Berneking, son Tim (Julie) Kent, son Kevin (Sherri) Kent, and daughter Shawn Kent; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nell Kent; brothers, Robert (Duke) and Larry Kent; wife, Isabel; daughter, Shannon Kent; grandson, Jordan Kent (Tim & Julie) and grandson, Brian Kent (Steve & Nancy)
