Steffanie Janelle Lindgren, daughter of James and Judith (Bergquist) Lindgren, was born November 18, 1985 in Freemont, Nebraska, and was baptized at Elim Lutheran Church in Swaburg, NE. For Steffanie's first six years of schooling she attended country school in rural Verdon, NE. Her family then moved to DeWitt, NE, where she continued her education, before moving to Comfrey, MN, where she graduated from Comfrey High School in 2005. Following her graduation, Steffanie attended Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, graduating with a degree in Journalism. While attending Bethel, she met the love of her life and future husband, Paul Dahlseng. The couple was united in marriage on July 24, 2010. Following their marriage, Steffanie and Paul made their home on their farm near Starbuck, and Steffanie took a position as a reporter at the Pope County Tribune. Because of her great ability, she soon worked her way up to News Editor, the position she held currently.
Steffanie was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she loved, and was loved by, her church family. Some of the activities that Steffanie enjoyed in life were photography, gardening, playing games and caring for the small farm animals, but her true passion was for writing.
Steffanie was very excited to be a mother and did everything she could to care for and protect her child. She loved to rub her tummy because she said it soothed her little boy. Sometimes his kicking could be a little aggressive and even painful, but she could always count on Paul's touch to calm their son down.
Those moments of excitement and anticipation of becoming a family were suddenly changed to heartfelt pain and unimaginable sorrow when Steffanie and her son's lives were ended from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Glenwood, MN on February 20, 2012. The following day, the little boy that Paul and Steffanie never got to meet, was given the name Joshua James Dahlseng. Joshua will now spend eternity with his mother, both wrapped up lovingly in the arms of Jesus.
Steffanie and Joshua are survived by Steffanie's husband and Joshua's father: Paul Dahlseng of Starbuck; Steffanie's parents: James and Judy Lindgren of Iron Mountain, MI; Paul's parents: Curt and Rose Ann Dahlseng of Starbuck; Steffanie's sisters: Jennifer (Ryan) Nelson of Central City, NE and Allison Lindgren (friend, Igor Dolas) of Sioux Falls, SD; Paul's sisters: Robyn (Ben) Deadrick of Atwater and Cindy Dahlseng of Starbuck; Steffanie's grandparents: Lois Bergquist of St. Paul and Jacquelyn Lindgren of Wahoo, NE and Paul's grandparents: Mildred Dahlseng of Alexandria and Tilfred and Arlene Moen of Starbuck. They were preceded in death by Steffanie's grandfathers: Allen Bergquist and Clifford Lindgren and by Paul's grandfather: Arnold Dahlseng.
Pallbearers for the service will be all of Steffanie and Joshua's loving family. Amy VanZee will serve as organist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
