The services for Sylvia Frandsen of Alexandria, formerly of Minneapolis will be private with burial at the Drake City Cemetery in Drake, North Dakota.
Sylvia Gladys Frandsen, daughter of Henry and Emma (Satter) Frandsen was born on June 14, 1921 in Drake, North Dakota. Early life was pleasant on the farm in Drake, until her brother, David died unexpectedly at a young age. Her father, Henry, died just 2 years later. Sylvia and her mother moved back to the family farm near Cyrus to be closer to family. Sylvia graduated from Cyrus High School in 1939 and moved to the "Big" city- Minneapolis. She worked several years at a department store before taking a job at General Mills. She worked over 40 years in the tax department, before her retirement in 1996. Sylvia also cared for her dear mother, Emma for many years until her death in 1981. She continued to live in Minneapolis, before moving to the Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria, Minnesota in 2013.
Sylvia was a staunch Republican: she even attended the National Republican Convention in New Orleans. She enjoyed shopping, trying new cosmetics, cooking dinner parties and traveling. Over the years, she and her mother traveled on many vacations to numerous interesting destinations.
Sylvia died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria. She was 93 years old. She benefited from excellent care while at the Bethany Home. Sylvia had a strong faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior and she enjoyed the many visits from Pastor Michael Hanson.
She is survived by special friends and co-workers from General Mills- Melodine Davis of Minneapolis and Terri Berkness of Cannon Falls and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Frandsen.
