MMemorial services for Marilyn Staples of Starbuck, MN will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Fron Lutheran Cemetery, near Starbuck.
Marilyn Wagner, daughter of Frank and Erma (Asmus) Wagner, was born March 18, 1930 in Chokio, Minnesota. When Marilyn was seven the family moved to Morris, where she continued her schooling and graduated from Morris High School in 1948. On May 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald Staples. The couple moved southwest of Morris, where they farmed until 1960. They moved to Morris for a year before making their home in Starbuck. Marilyn was a homemaker, secretary and bookkeeper. She worked at various firms, such as Production Credit Association and Fron Lutheran Church. She had to retire early due to health problems, but was able to overcome them in 1992 with a long awaited kidney transplant. After the transplant, Marilyn volunteered as the treasurer of several organizations.
Marilyn was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. She enjoyed being an organist, pianist, and soloist. Her love for music never left her, she enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts.
Marilyn considered herself lucky to have been blessed with a wonderful family. She enjoyed having her kids so close, and being able to spend time with them. Marilyn also loved being a grandma. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow through their many stages and interests, going to their activities, and spending quality time with them.
Marilyn died on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.
She is survived by her daughter: Candy Staples; her sons: Doug (Lynn) Staples and Tim (RaeAnn) Staples; five grandchildren: Tyler (Jody) Staples, Evan (Jessie) Staples, Taya Staples, Breanna (Josh) Sherlin and Katie (Joseph) Heidelberger; nine great-grandchildren: Lucy and Ellie Staples, Holden and Brynn Staples, Thatcher and Odin Sherlin and Maria, Emma and Natalie Heidelberger; one sister: Jean Jacobson; several loving in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; four brothers; one sister and many in-laws.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to: Starbuck Depot Society, Starbuck Study Club, Fron Lutheran Church and the Stevens County Historical Society. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
