Vernon Krupke

The funeral for Vernon Krupke, of Hancock, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Michael Hanson officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Hancock.

Vernon Emil August Krupke, son of Fred and Meta (Giese) Krupke was born on April 3, 1932 on the family farm in Moore Township near Hancock, Minnesota. He attended school in Hancock graduating from Hancock High School in 1950. Vernon worked in the Hancock area, before entering the United States Army in 1954, being stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged in 1956, he returned to Minnesota. Vernon was united in marriage to Yvonne Lund on September 14, 1957 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. The couple farmed near Hancock until 1965, when Vernon began working in the construction business. He worked locally and regionally over the years hanging drywall. He retired in 1995 and continued to live on the family farm until the time of his death. Vern's highlight in 2012, was celebrating The Krupke Family Farm's 100th year.

Vernon was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Vernon enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and hunting. He not only hunted for pheasants and deer, but enjoyed hunting the area for asparagus.

Vernon died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. He was 82 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, Hancock; three sons, Steven, Brian and Daniel (Amanda Cleland), all of Hancock; one daughter, Jane (Brian) Berget, Willmar; one sister, Lucille Heil, Georgetown, TX; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Howard and Glen.
