Virginia Schmidgall

The funeral for Virginia J. Schmidgall, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, Morris, with the Apostolic Christian Church Ministers officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m.  at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery, Morris.

Virginia Jean Richards, daughter of Merwin “Ted” and Emma Irene (Hanson) Richards was born on February 15, 1931, in Luverne City, Minnesota. She graduated from Hancock High School in 1949. After her graduation, Virginia began working at the Hancock Bakery.

Virginia was united in marriage to C. Don Schmidgall on January 17, 1951, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock. To this union five children were born.

After the children were older, Virginia returned to work. She worked with Kenny Johnson, CPA; before working as a bookkeeper for Ellingson Implement and Stevens County Implement. Virginia also worked at the University of Minnesota Morris, retiring at the age of 70. Don died on January 1, 2014. On March 18, 2016, Virginia became a resident at the West Wind Village in Morris.

She was baptized into the Apostolic Christian Church on September 7, 1969, where she was an active member for many years. Virginia organized and ran the local blood mobile in Hancock for many years. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, cross-stich and quilting. Virginia especially enjoyed spending time with her family

Virginia died on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the West Wind Village in Morris. She was 88 years old.

She is survived by three sons: Mike (Diane) Schmidgall, Morris, MN, Mark (Karla) Schmidgall, Crystal, MN and Ted (Kim) Schmidgall, Hancock, MN; two daughters: Jayne (husband, Scott Meemken) Schmidgall, and Tami Schmidgall, all of St. Cloud, MN; one sister: Joan Stottler, Rush City, MN; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother-in-law, Robert Stottler.
