Warren Ralph Edward Hood, son of Edward and Sarah (Weaver) Hood, was born August 15, 1925 in Scott Township in Alberta, Minnesota. He was baptized on October 19, 1925 by Pastor J.E. Church in Morris and was confirmed on May 7, 1967 by Pastor Elmer Anderson at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Warren grew up in Swan Lake Township, where he graduated from School District #10. Following his schooling, he went to work farming. On September 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Martha Oberg by Pastor Elmer Padoll in Morris. The couple moved to Morris, where Warren worked for Smiths Cab Company, Eames Distributing and Kollorens Mobile Service. In 1950, he began working for Morris Coop, until 1960, when he went to work for the City of Morris Police Department and also served as Civil Defense Director. He retired from the Police Department in 1987. Following his retirement from the city, he went to work for the Stevens County Sheriffs Department until 1997.
Warren was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, especially after his retirement. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters and their families.
Warren died on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND, having lived to reach the age of 81 years.
He is survived by his wife: Martha Hood of Morris; two daughters: Marleen (Herb) Nelson of Donnelly and Avis Johnson of Dalton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister: Fern Bristor of Crystal. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Marian Helberg.
Pallbearers for the service are: Randy Willis, Chuck Grussing, Jim Beauregard, Larry Sayre, Charles Glasrud and Dennis Larson. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Ken Hodgson serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
