Funeral services for Wayne Schmidgall of Morris, Minnesota will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. Apostolic Christian Church Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris on Monday. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Morris
Wayne Koehl Schmidgall, son of Henry and Emma (Koehl) Schmidgall, was born June 30, 1918 in Hancock, Minnesota. He grew up and received his education in Hancock, graduating from the 8th grade. Wayne went to work with his father in the concrete business, working with the trucking and gravel production. Wayne was baptized on October 7, 1938 into the Apostolic Christian Church in Morris, Minnesota. On November 29, 1942, Wayne was united in marriage to Dorothy Anna Pfister in Fort Scott, Kansas. The couple resided in Hancock until moving to Morris in 1951, when Wayne started Schmidgall Sand and Ready Mix. Wayne was active in the business until he retired in 1976. He spent many winters in the south enjoying the fellowship of family and friends.
Wayne was an active member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Morris, serving as a Sunday school teacher and also on the building committee for the fellowship center in 1965 and the church in 1967. Wayne was always busy helping out where he could and had a deep love for the church family. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with family and making barbequed ribs for many occasions.
Wayne passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the West Wind Village in Morris having reached the age of 98 years.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Schmidgall of Morris; four children: Dennis (Ruby) Schmidgall of Morris, Neil (Linda) Schmidgall of Morris, Faye Schmidgall of Morris, Jerel (Linda) Schmidgall of Morris; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Hartzell Schmidgall of Mediapolis, IA, Gilbert (Barbara) Schmidgall of Morris; sister, Darlene Carlton of Bonney Lake, WA; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Schmidgall and Dorothy Schmidgall, both of Morris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren: Connie, Debra and Marianne Schmidgall; four brothers: Francis Schmidgall, Richard Schmidgall, Don Schmidgall and Gene Schmidgall; and two sisters: Gladys Messner and Estella Moser.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements for Wayne.
