Wesley Lyle Bratton

Memorial services for Wesley Bratton of Morris will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus with Reverend Chris Richards officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Wesley Lyle Bratton was born on December 4, 1950 to Ralph and Edna (Helgerson) Bratton at the Minnewaska Hospital in Starbuck, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Cyrus Lutheran Church and attended Cyrus Public Schools until graduation in 1968.  After graduation, Wesley spent several years working at Melroe Equipment in Gwinner, North Dakota.  He then returned to the Morris area and did numerous trucking jobs and worked for several local implement dealerships.  When his father, Ralph, retired, he farmed with his brother, Dan, for many years.  Along with farming, he worked at the local furniture store. 

Wesley enjoyed farm life.  He especially loved attending threshing bees and looking at old farm machinery.  During his time away from farming and work, he could be found boating and ice fishing, going on bus tours around the United States, and visiting with friends and neighbors.

When his mother, Edna Bratton, became a resident at the local nursing home, Wesley would stop daily to see his mother and help with activities.  He especially enjoyed helping out when there was bingo.  His kindness didn’t go unnoticed as he was once nominated for the Stevens County Pay It Forward Award.

After a short illness, Wesley passed away at the Swift County Benson Hospital on December 9, 2022.  He was 72 years old.

Wesley is survived by his brothers: Daniel Bratton and Rodney (Ruth) Bratton, all of Morris; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Duane Bratton.
