Wilferd Kolden

Wilferd Ronald Kolden, son of Helmer and Fern (Johnson) Kolden, was born December 15, 1943 in Morris, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. In December of 1961, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving a full term before receiving his honorable discharge in 1964. Following his discharge, Willie returned to Morris, where he worked for Firestone. In 1966, Willie moved to Seattle, Washington, where he worked for Boeing. In 1970, he returned to Morris, and began working for Morris Seal Coat. He later purchased the sanitation business in Benson, Minnesota, which he ran for a few years before moving to the Twin Cities. While living there, he worked as a machinist, first for Bystrom’s and later for E.T.N, where he remained until retiring in 2006. Willie was a long standing member of AA and was proud of his accomplishments. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance.




Wilferd died on Thursday, October 30, 2008, doing what he loved, hunting deer near his home in Remer, Minnesota, in the Chippewa National Forest. He lived to reach the age of 64 years.




Wilferd is survived by four sons: Chad Kolden of Seattle, WA, Josh Kolden of Fortworth, TX, Arik Kolden and Matthew Kolden both of Sheridan, WY; three grandchildren; two sisters: Marjarie (Willard) Farnick of Casa Grande, AZ and Diane (Larry) Klatt of Big Lake; one brother: Russell (Connie) Kolden of Mound and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Hollis Kolden and Duane Kolden; one infant sister: Joann Kolden and three nephews: Craig, Brian and Bradley.




Pallbearers for the service are: Kevin Kolden, Dean Kolden, Paul Kolden, Quinn Kolden, Darrin Klatt and Brad Farnick. Honorary pallbearers are: Jeff Kolden, Shane Kolden, Troy Kolden and Jason Klatt. Bonnie Gulbrandson will serve as organist for the service with Gregory Sperr serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
