William Dahlseng

June 26, 1948 — October 8, 2006

William John Dahlseng, son of Clairmont and Mildred (DeGrote) Dahlseng, was born June 26, 1948 in Starbuck, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from the Starbuck High School in 1966 and continued his education at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Bill was employed by the Minnewaska House for many years as a chef. He became known in West Central Minnesota for his outstanding cooking ability. He later became owner of the Minnewaska House and in 1991 received an award for "The Pork Restaurant of the Year" for his "Erickson Chop". In 1998, Bill moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a chef at the Parrish Supper Club.



Bill enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking for family and friends, politics and being at the lake.



Bill died on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the Hennepin County Hospital in Minneapolis, having lived to reach the age of 58 years.



He is survived by: one sister, Debbie (Paul) Finstad of Fargo; two brothers: Bob (Deb) Dahlseng of Moorhead and Don (Karen) Dahlseng of Fargo; four nieces: Erica Finstad, Jennifer Kratcha, Katie Dahlseng and Mandi Dahlseng; one nephew: Shawn Dahlseng. He is preceded in death by his parents.



Honorary pallbearers are all who called Bill friend. Greg Merrill will serve as pianist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
