William Itzen

Funeral services for William Itzen of Herman, Minnesota will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Eden Reformed Church in Herman. Reverend Ted Graf will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.

William Robert Itzen, son of George and Margaret (Blees) Itzen, was born June 8, 1949 in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized June 19, 1949 and confirmed June 26, 1962 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman. Bill grew up on the family farm in Logan Township in Grant County, Minnesota. He graduated from Herman High School in 1967. Following graduation, he attended Fergus Falls Junior College for two years and later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota Morris. Bill lived and farmed west of Herman for many years and later worked as a caregiver for St. Francis Health Services in the Hancock and Morris areas. He retired in 2012 due to health issues. Following his retirement, he continued to live in the Herman area.

Bill enjoyed gardening, traveling, deer hunting and driving around to check crops. Bill had polio when he was very young and other health issues later in life. He was always positive in his thinking and many times made the statement "We have to take what the good Lord gives us."

Bill died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. He lived to reach the age of 65 years.

He is survived by his siblings: Lois Maki of Eagan, Buddy (Linda) Itzen of Fort Dodge, IA, Mary Lee (Richard) Raths of Morris, Pamela (Mike) Ludwig of Monticello, Tim (Brenda) Itzen of Clewiston, FL, Margo Hawkinson of Savage, Randy Itzen of Herman and Jeff Itzen of Herman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law: Daniel Norenberg and nephew: Joseph Maki.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
